Unifor CNTL Bargaining Committee Elections
April 15, 2014
This is the final year of our collective agreement with CN Transportation Ltd. (CNTL). We will be preparing proposals to bring forward for negotiations with the Company later this year. But before we do this, we need to determine the remainder of the bargaining committee that will join National Council 4000 President Barry Kennedy, Regional Representative Wesley Gajda and National Representative Bob Fitzgerald at the National bargaining table.
To that end, one of the many changes made to the Unifor Council 4000 Bylaws during our last Council 4000 Convention held at Edmonton in October 2013, was on the structure of our CNTL Bargaining Committee. In addition to the Regional Representative responsible for CNTL and the Council President, whom is the Chairperson of all National bargaining committees, the CNTL Committee will be comprised of one CNTL member (a CNTL Shop Steward) from each of the five Regional Local Unions of Council 4000.
Following a conference call last Tuesday evening of all our CNTL Shop Stewards from coast-to-coast with Wesley Gajda and Barry Kennedy, nominations were held for bargaining committee members, one from each Regional Local Union.
Elected by Acclamation
We are pleased to report that three of the five members who will form the bargaining committee have been elected by acclamation. They are as follows:
