Jennifer Murray appointed interim Regional Representative for Council 4000/Local 4005

Jennifer Murray, Secretary Treasurer of Unifor Local 4005 and National Election Committee Member for Unifor Council 4000, and Discussion Leader at Unifor's Family Education Centre in Port Elgin, Ontario, has been appointed by Unifor Council 4000 President Barry Kennedy as the interim Regional Representative for the Atlantic Region of Council 4000 and Local 4005, with the support of the Local 4005 Executive. Jennifer works at VIA Rail Canada in Moncton, New Brunswick. "Jennifer will bring enthusiasm and experience to this position, and I look forward to working with her", said Kennedy.
The appointment is made in accordance the Council 4000 Bylaws that states; "the National Council President will have the authority to appoint members or committee members not otherwise provided for" in the Council’s bylaws.
Sister Murray replaces her brother Patrick Murray, who vacated the position to join the Unifor Organizing Department in Moncton for union organizing responsibilities in Atlantic Canada. Brother Kennedy, on behalf of the Council 4000 Executive Board, wished Brother Murray success in his future endeavours and thanked him for his service to the Council and Local 4005 for the almost three years he was elected to the job.

Nominations and subsequent elections for all Regional Representatives for Council 4000 will take place later this year in time for elected members to start new three year terms effective July 1, 2015.
