October 11, 2015 | Update October 21 | Update October 28 | Update November 12
Great news from John Dowell's son, Mike. John was released from ICU, where he has been since he was first admitted to hospital on October 3, 2015. The various tubes and such he has been hooked up to have also have been removed, but doctors continue to keep an eye on his condition. He is able to speak and the family is hoping that over the next couple of weeks he may be able to see a few visitors. In the meantime, we take this news as encouraging and hope that he continues to keep getting stronger and get released from the hospital before the Christmas holidays.
John Dowell's family reports that the past week has seen some improvement to John's condition. The family remains optimistic that he will start to regain his strength which will see a further overall improvement in his recovery in the weeks ahead. The Dowell family thanks everyone for their thoughts and prayers, and also wish to thank the Executive of Unifor Local 4001 and Council 4000 for their support.
Unfortunately, Brother Dowell is still in intensive care in an Edmonton hospital, There have been some complications following a number of surgeries which has set his recovery back. Some days he is cognizant of his surroundings and visiting family members, while others days he is confused, perhaps caused by the medication that he is on. We continue to hold hope that he will get stronger and in better spirits. The family extends their continued appreciation for the kind words and well wishes that have been passed on to them in this difficult time. They pass these sentiments on to John.
