Unifor Local 4002 and delegates/guests to Council 4000 Convention donate almost $9K to Winnipeg charity
December 29, 2016

The Executive of Unifor Local 4002 held its 25th Annual Smoker social event in conjunction with the Unifor National Council 4000 Convention that was held November 25-26 in Winnipeg, Manitoba.

A good turn out of Local 4002 members from VIA Rail and CN, along with their family and friends, in addition to some of the 50 delegates and 15 guests and observers attending the Council 4000 convention, attended this years’ event.

A huge raffle with numerous prizes donated by Unifor Local 4002, Council 4000, Unifor National and employers of Local 4002 members was held. Proceeds of the raffle went to Willow Place, an emergency shelter in Winnipeg for women and their children leaving family violence situations.

On Saturday evening, November 26, Local 4002 was proud to present a cheque in the amount of $8,981.00 to Marcie Wood, Community Coordinator of Willow Place, during the Council 4000 Convention dinner and dance at the Fort Garry Hotel, the wrap-up to the convention.

And with the donation of almost $9,000.00 to Willow Place, it made for a special evening.
