Unifor Council 4000/Local 4003 member Cordy Krammer has died; leaves to mourn 17 year old son Ryan
January 25, 2016
We are saddened to share the news of the sudden passing of Unifor National Council 4000 / Local 4003 member Cordy (Cordelia) Krammer on Thursday, January 14, 2016. Sister Krammer was 52 years of age and was employed by Canadian National Railway Co. and worked under Unifor Agreement 5.1 for many years on various clerical jobs. Upon CN relocating its Revenue Management Centre from Mississauga, Ontario to CN’s headquarters at Montreal, Quebec, Cordy exercised her seniority to her final position under the Agreement 5.1 Intermodal Agreement at the MISC yard in Mississauga. She had 25 years’ service and seniority at CN.
The days leading up to her passing she complained to some friends and co-workers that she wasn’t feeling well and went to see her doctor whom prescribed her some medication. She said the medication had her feeling better. A few days later, Sister Krammer passed away in her sleep. Unbeknownst to her or her doctor, Cordy had cancer, which was discovered following an autopsy.
If this isn’t sad enough, Sister Krammer leaves behind her 17 year old son Ryan. Ryan has no immediate family. Ryan’s grandparents passed away years earlier. It was he and his Mom.
Ryan also has Asperger Syndrome, also known as Asperger's syndrome, Asperger disorder (AD) or simply Asperger's. Asperger's is an autism spectrum disorder (ASD) that is characterized by significant difficulties in social interaction and nonverbal communication, alongside restricted and repetitive patterns of behavior and interests. Children with Asperger's Syndrome typically function better than do those with autism and generally have normal intelligence and near-normal language development, although they may develop problems communicating as they get older.
Quite commendably, a friend and co-worker of Sister Krammer’s at CN, Joanne Collver, started a ‘gofundme’ page to raise donations to help out young Ryan Krammer in this very difficult and emotional time. All monies collected in this fund will be deposited into a bank account set up for Ryan. Monies from CN (Sister Krammer’s pension and such) will be held by the public trustee until he reaches 18 years of age.
We kindly ask for the assistance of our Unifor Council 4000 membership from coast-to-coast. Please donate to this fund, even if you didn’t know Sister Krammer. This young 17 year old teenager who is now without a mother, alone with no other immediate family, needs our assistance. So please have it in your heart to make a donation, big or small. Every dollar counts and will help out.
Unifor National Council 4000 and Local 4003 are looking at assisting Ryan too.
So please visit Ryan’s gofundme page by clicking the link below and make a donation. Many members already have!
Thanks, and In Solidarity,
The Executive and staff of Unifor Council 4000 and Unifor Local 4003
