Unifor and Toronto Terminals Railway back to the bargaining table July 6
July 4, 2016
The Unifor National Council 4000 Bargaining Committee will resume negotiations with Toronto Terminals Railway (TTR) on Wednesday, July 6 at the offices of the Federal Mediation and Conciliation Services (FMCS) in downtown Toronto. This will be the first meeting between the parties with the assistance of FMCS. The last time both sides met was on April 20.
Unifor Council 4000 / Local 4003 represents 80 members at TTR who provide track maintenance, flagging and signal services on the Union Station Rail Corridor (USRC) in Toronto. The USRC is used by VIA Rail, GO Transit and the new Union Pearson (UP) Express. TTR is a jointly owned subsidiary of both CN and CP Rail.
The Union faces some significant challenges this round of negotiations given the concessionary demands that are presently on the bargaining table by the Company. Also, the Company is not offering much in the way of wage or benefit increases given the current economic climate.
The Union has informed TTR that it will not agree to any concessionary demands that 'turn the clock backwards' on our past hard fought gains.
Negotiations are scheduled for Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, July 6 through 8.
