Unifor Local 4001/Council 4000 saddened by the passing of Mike Kroeker
July 16, 2016

Unifor Local 4001 and National Council 4000 were saddened by the news of the passing of  Brother Mike Kroeker. He was 60 years of age and passed on July 13, 2016 from Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), or commonly referred to as 'Lou Gehrig's disease.'

Brother Kroeker worked for CN for 37 years before retiring a few years ago. He worked at various jobs under Agreement 5.1 in the Greater Vancouver Terminal before transferring to Winnipeg to work as a Customer Support Representative at CN's new Customer Support Centre that opened in 1994/1995. From there, he took training to become a Conductor and transferred to the ranks of the United Transportation Union (UTU), now the Teamsters Canada Rail Conference (TCRC). He came back to work under Agreement 5.1  and the CAW ranks at Thornton Yard in Surrey, B.C. in 2005.

Brother Kroeker served as the Local Chairperson for Local 4326 of the Canadian Brotherhood of Railway, Transport and General Workers Union (CBRT&GW), which today is Unifor Local 4001, representing CN Agreement 5.1 members in the Greater Vancouver Terminal.
