Unifor membership at Rocky Mountain Catering Co. ratifies new contract

We are pleased to report that our Unifor membership at Rocky Mountain Catering Company Ltd. (RMCC) have ratified their new contract following Thursday's ratification meeting held at Unifor's offices in New Westminster, B.C.
The new agreement sees a wage increase of 2% for members returning for the 2016 season, with a 10% bonus at the completion of the Rocky Mountaineer train season. |

The RMCC employees are members of Unifor National Council 4000 and Local 4001 employed seasonally as Cooks, Culinary Crew Members and Kitchen personnel based in Vancouver and Kamloops, British Columbia. In addition to preparing meals on-board the Rocky Mountaineer train that runs through the Rocky Mountains in B.C. and Alberta, RMCC also caters events in the B.C. Interior and Lower Mainland of the Greater Vancouver Area.
The nature of the business environment at the RMCC, who are largely dependent on maintaining a relationship and contract with Rocky Mountaineer, has made negotiations with this Company very difficult. Given these circumstances, the Union is satisfied with this agreement, as were the members who came out to ratify it. We rely on the support and solidarity of our membership at RMCC in order to be an effective bargaining unit to maintain and improve the working conditions at Rocky Mountain Catering Co.
The Unifor Bargaining Committee was comprised of Council 4000 Regional Representative Ron Shore, and National Representative Bruce Snow.
