Unifor National Council 4000 CNTL and CN Negotiations

Unifor National Council 4000 is in the process of completing collective bargaining proposals that were submitted by the Council’s 3,260 members employed at CN and CNTL who work under five separate collective agreements:
Agreement 5.1 – Governs the wage and working conditions of the 1,280 Unifor members who work in various clerical classifications; automotive mechanics; locomotive hostlers; stores attendants and labourers all across Canada; and workers at CN’s Montreal Auto Ramp and Victoria Bridge.
Agreement 5.1 Supplemental – Governs the wage and working conditions of the 910 Unifor members who work at CN’s Intermodal Terminals across Canada as equipment operators; heavy equipment operators; ground persons; heavy duty mechanics and various clerical classifications across Canada.
Agreement 5.4 – Governs Unifor members employed as excavator operators at CN’s Engineering Operations in Alberta and British Columbia.
CN Savage Alberta Railway (CNSAR) – Governs the 65 Unifor members employed as locomotive engineers and conductors at CN’s operations in northwestern Alberta who are based in Grande Cache and Grande Prairie, Alberta.
CN Transportation Ltd. (CNTL) – Governs the more than 1,000 dependent owner-operator truck drivers at CNTL who are based all across Canada hauling CN Intermodal containers.

Unifor CNTL Bargaining Committee
The Unifor CNTL Bargaining Committee will be comprised of the following committee members:

This committee met in Edmonton from October 10-13 to begin compiling our demands based in part on the results received from our membership surveys sent out earlier this year. Of the priorities for this round of bargaining are demands for significant increases to zone and highway rates; reasonable time away from the workplace; a comprehensive benefit plan; improved truck specifications and address CNTL’s spike in disciplinary measures, to name a few.
Unifor CN Agreement 5.1 / Intermodal / 5.4 Bargaining Committee
The Unifor CN Agreement 5.1/Intermodal and Agreement 5.4 Bargaining Committee will be comprised of the following committee members:

This committee met in Montreal from October 15-17 to begin compiling our demands based in part on the results received from our membership surveys sent out earlier this year. Of the priorities for this round of bargaining are demands for significant increases to CN’s Benefit Plans and improvements to the current sick pay provisions that are enshrined in the collective agreement.
Unifor CNSAR Bargaining Committee
The Unifor CNSAR Bargaining Committee will be comprised of the following committee members:

This committee will meet shortly to compile our bargaining demands based in part on the results received from our membership surveys sent out earlier this year. Of the priorities for this round of bargaining are demands for significant increases to CN’s Benefit Plans.
The current five Council 4000 Collective Agreements with CN and CNTL all expire on March 31, 2019 and notice to commence negotiations will be served to the Company on December 1, 2018.
The Union plans to officially open bargaining in early January 2019.
