Council 4000/Local 4001 starts Negotiations on CNSAR Agreement
February 14, 2019
The Bargaining Committee for CN Savage Alberta Railway (CNSAR) met at Unifor’s Edmonton Regional Office on February 7th and 8th to start bargaining towards a new collective agreement for 70 Unifor members employed as conductors and locomotive engineers at CN’s railway operations in northwestern Alberta.
Some of the bargaining priorities determined by our membership include improved benefits, improved working conditions on spare boards, being returned home when crews reach the away from home station under 10-hours working time, and establishing three person train crews on work trains and/or when conditions warrant on other train assignments. Bargaining discussions were cordial as both sides explained their respective bargaining proposals.
Bargaining will continue next week, February 18-20, and February 25-28 in Edmonton. We will provide bargaining updates as information becomes available.
In Solidarity,
Unifor Council 4000/Local 4001 – CNSAR Bargaining Committee
