​UNIFOR FILES FOR CONCILIATION IN VIA RAIL NEGOTIATIONS

Dear Members,
Unifor Council 4000 and Local 100 filed for conciliation on March 25, 2025, and the Labour Minister now has up to 15-days to appoint a federal conciliator to assist the parties with contract negotiations.

REGIONAL REPRESENTATIVE ELECTIONS 2024

The final elections for the Regional Representatives responsible for servicing our Unifor National Council 4000 members coast to coast are now complete. There are 7 Regional Representative positions across Canada that service the five Regional Local Unions (4001-4002-4003-4004-4005), that form Unifor National Council 4000.

Meet all of the Council's full-time Regional Representatives who will fulfill the Regional Representative roles for a term ending on or about June 30, 2027.

Local 4005

Rheanne Gautreau was acclaimed to her second term as Regional Representative.  Rheanne services the diverse membership of Unifor Local 4005 in Atlantic Canada (Bay Ferries, Cummins, CN, DHL, Loblaw Atlantic Wholesalers, Loomis, Nova Scotia Federation of Labour support staff, Ryder, Securitas, VIA Rail, Wajax, and the Halifax Convention Centre, BMW, Discovery Centre). 

Local 4004

Mario Laroche was re-elected to his fourth full term, and services Local 4004 members employed at CN and VIA Rail Agreement 1 members in the province of Quebec and the City of Ottawa.

Locals 4003/4004

Gordon Cox was elected to his first term as Regional Representative, servicing Local 4003 VIA Rail Agreement 1 (off-board) and Agreement 2 (on-board) and Saputo members in the province of Ontario, and Local 4004 VIA Rail Agreement 2 members based in Quebec. 

Local 4003

Kristi Boisvert was re-elected to her second term as the Regional Representative responsible for servicing the Local 4003 Ontario membership employed at CN, and members at Toronto Terminals Railway (TTR) based in Toronto. 

CNTL (all locals)

Amir Zaidi was elected to his first term as the Regional Representative responsible for servicing the growing membership of owner-operator truck drivers contracted at CN Transportation Ltd. (CNTL) across Canada. 

Local 4002

Jennifer Long was elected to her first term on December 9, 2023 to replace Laura Hazlitt who was elected as Council 4000 Secretary Treasurer. Jennifer will serve an extended term that will run to June 30, 2027 along with the terms of the other 6 Regional Representatives. Jennifer services Local 4002 members employed at CN and VIA Rail Canada in Saskatchewan, Manitoba and northwestern Ontario.

Local 4001

Ryan Mills was elected on February 1, 2024 to his first term for the Mountain Region when David Judge had to vacant his term early. Ryan will serve an extended term that will run until June 30, 2027 along with the terms of the other 6 Regional Representatives. Ryan services Local 4001 members employed at CN, and VIA Rail members in Alberta, British Columbia and Western Saskatchewan.
