Unifor CNTL Owner-Operators Ratify New Collective Agreement

Last night (October 1, 2019) in Edmonton, the Union conducted the final night of ratification voting on our latest tentative agreement with CN Transportation Ltd. (CNTL). 

After weeklong voting all across Canada by members based in Newfoundland and Labrador to Vancouver Island, our CNTL membership voted by a margin of 74% in favour of the new agreement, which will expire on December 31, 2023.

The new agreement contains significant improvements in all areas of the collective agreement, as well as improvements to terminal wait time, customer wait time, and zone rates in each year of the agreement.  The agreement also contains additional monetary improvements to existing and new incidental expenses of members.  In addition, Unifor continued to maintain the fuel subsidy with CNTL, which offers an average of $33,000 in yearly savings to our CNTL membership.  For more details on the new contract, click on the links below under the 'Unifor Council 4000 CNTL Bargaining Reports'.
There are presently 1006 CNTL Owner-Operators who are members of Unifor National Council and its five Regional Local Unions across Canada.
